So Much BS at Eastern Washington University

A coupe of weeks ago the Spokesman Review addressed a Title 6 complaint against EWU for a presentation in February 2024 that may have been antisemitic.

I cannot address of the specifics of the complaint, although I attended the “Teach-in” early last year and have my own impressions. In fact, I am the Zionist  troublemaker cited in the article at the most heated moment.

Go read the Spokeman’s article, then come back.  You can watch the whole torturous thing or there is a link to my little schpeal (heated moment), where you can hear me get booed.

I didn’t prepare my comments.  I wish I had.  I could have anticipated the panel’s completely one-sided presentation and could have stayed more focused on the Palestinians and not gone into Islamism which is too inviting to accusations of ‘Islamophobia’.  A term that is an invention to prevent any criticism for Islam or Islamic violence.

Would I call the panel discussion antisemitic?  Yes, in a seemingly polite way, exemplified by Professor’s Sharifi and Chabot perspective both in person and in the Spokesman’s article.

Here are some highlights:

Antisemitism by Omission

The panel in early 2024 was billed as ‘Gaza:  Israeli Security or Genocide’?  Yet, there was no Israeli representation on the panel.  Omission – one of the cornerstones of the new antisemitism.  The audience did not have any Israeli perspective that day, or any day, and could not imagine that Palestinians could be responsible for violence.    Look at the cosplay Native guy in the front row roll his eyes when I speak.

Jews are the indigenous people of Israel, Islam is the colonizer.  He does not get the irony.  If you are unsure just go on an archaeological dig in Israel.  You’ll find Jewish artifacts that predate Christianity and Islam.  Jews have had an enduring presence in Israel for thousands of years, often in low numbers.  But the new antisemitism makes sure that gets no press.

The most painful omission for me during the presentation was the denial of Israeli and Jewish suffering, as if that suffering does not exist.  None of this was discussed at the panel, nor was October 7th mentioned – an attack meant to rip out the Israeli soul.  There was no acknowledgment for Hezbollah’s constant bombing, all the displaced Israelis in the North and along the Gaza border, or the Israeli families that have suffered so much loss in a small well-connected country.  The torture for us in the Diaspora, as supporters of the only Jewish State, is invisible.

Antisemitism By Inversion

  • My favorite quote from the guest Palestinian speaker who spoke remotely ‘’Palestinians have tried every peaceful method.’’  Say what?

  • Or Professor Sharifi’s accusations that Israel’s government is ‘racist and based in apartheid.’

  • Or calling Israel’s actions in Gaza ‘genocide’ as the title of this presentation presumed.

This is the classic Goebbels strategy where you blame the other side for what it is you do.

Hamas’ charter calls for the end of Israel without compromise. That is the genocidal intent.  Israel would love to live in peace.  Jews imagine what Israel would have been if it’s neighbors could have just left it alone.

But that could not be.  For Palestinians and Islamists Israel was once Arab land under the Ottomans and must be reclaimed.  Israel cannot be tolerated.  If this were about land, there would have been a Palestinian state long ago.  This is about the desired end of Israel.

There was no mention of all the peace deals Palestinians would not accept, because to do so would have meant accepting Israel.

Professor Chabot: “From both of our perspectives, not being able to challenge a nation-state is exactly what allows antisemitism to happen, or any kind of discrimination against particular groups”.  That is truth spelled backwards. They are not simply criticizing Israel – they are challenging its very existence.

Inversion - It doesn’t matter how politely it is presented, it is lie presented as truth.

Antisemitism By Separation

Professor Sharifi made a point to differentiate good Jews and Zionists.

  • Good Jew = criticizes Israel, supports the Palestinians, represent Jews.

  • Bad Jew = Zionist, often wears funny hat; not representative of Jews - see good jew above.

Gad Saad, the sharp-tongued Lebanese/Canadian Professor says ‘Good Jews’ exhibit ‘suicidal empathy’, where the rights of others supersede your own.  So you ally with your enemy.  Like an abused spouse in a co-dependent relationship.

It’s a form of self-hate encouraged by ‘Progressives’ under the delusion that the West and America is something worth hating and must be destroyed.  This aligns them blindly with their Islamist cheerleaders, who also hate the West, but also hate multiculturalism, women’s and minority rights, everything the left supposedly stands for.  Oh, except those rights don’t extend to Jews.

Islamism

And let’s talk about Islamism for a minute, which fuels antisemitism and violence.  Nothing I said about Islamism is a trope, just an inconvenient truth.  The world’s most violent countries are Muslim - the top four, and 8 of the top 15 countries.  See here.  There have been 47K Islamic terrorist attacks just since 9/11.  See here.  Curious that all Jews are responsible for the actions of Israel but no Muslim is responsible for Islamic religious violence.

If you want to learn more about the dangers of Islamism I recommend Ayaan Hirsi Ali’s book Infidel.

Next panel discussion I’ll be better prepared.
